Art in the South

Published

Booming with economic activities, with skyline and property values rising up to heaven, Ayala Alabang is now a center of development. As the leading center of what is now known as the Southern Manila West Growth Area (SMWGA), the area is a recipient of endless developments and major infrastructure projects. With this progress, communities have started to craft and define their own independent, contemporary, socio-cultural character. This development augurs well with the growth of art and art appreciation in the area.

With the goal of bringing to the south the vibrancy and the energy of the art scene found in the center of Metro Manila, Galerie Roberto gathers nine prominent art masters in a show called “Southbound,” which runs until Feb. 21. The show is a testament to the fact that like economic development, art development is south bound.

Participating in the show are some of the country’s well-esteemed veteran artists, such as Fil Dela Cruz, Gig De Pio, Edgar Doctor, Raul Isidro, Junyee, Raul Lebajo, Justin “Tiny” Nuyda, Ephraim Samson, and Jose “Pinggot” Zulueta. Most of these artists are also residents in the south.

Galerie Roberto is at Unit 4, Molito Lifestyle Extension Bldg., No. 7, Madrigal Avenue corner Commerce Avenue, Alabang, Muntinlupa City.02 809 1630; 63 917 854 5629
