Hommer Benitez is a commercial photographer whose journey started merely five years ago, back when his limited knowledge of photography was still disappointing for him. His first photo of Lake Caliraya in his hometown of Laguna ended up blurry and overexposed.

“To be honest, I didn’t know what I was doing. I only knew I needed to improve my photography,” Hommer explains. “I decided to study  basic and advanced photography and enrolled in the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation (FPPF).”It earned him the Best Portrait  Open Award citation in 2010.Soon after, he became grand winner in a competition in Asian Travel Magazine International in 2012 where it featured his landscape photos.

    Photographers for him have vast creativity that when tapped well—turning ordinary scenes into beautiful masterpieces. Though he specializes in a broad field of photography, he finds landscape to be the most relaxing and rewarding, that of capturing nature at its best. His love for portraiture draws him to older people because of dramatic lines and details on faces that convey untold stories and the mysteries of life.  He would like to develop more skills in the fashion industry.

    Hommer believes an effective photograph is when it tells a story or speaks to your emotions.

    Hommer is a businessman who owns a printing service company. His vast expertise includes being a multimedia artist focusing on illustration, graphic design, and photography.  What he learned more in joining FPPF was time management, which enabled him to add more clientele, like being the official photographer for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Philippines in 2012; the HimigHandog Concert coverage of ABS-CBN; and being the official photographer of Mr. and Ms. Boracay in 2013. He started doing portraits for the talents of ABS-CBN, as well as shooting hotel and resorts for advertising print materials.

    He finds his job fulfilling being his own boss and being able to travel and meet interesting people, with deserving compensation as well.

    “I am thankful every single day that I get to do what I love and getting paid for it. I get to establish solid relationships with clients who become my friends, and this makes my job more enjoyable,“ Hommer enthuses.
