For their individual fall/winter launches, MAC and Guerlain both emphasize the significance of individuality in a world that highlights spoon-fed trends to spark a bandwagon effect of conformity. This time around, it should (and always ought to) be your own personality and preference. You are encouraged to be yourself through and through. Wear only what you feel is your authentic self, and be unapologetic about it. Be bold and be free!
The Trend Forecast
How can styling express an attitude that is confident, in control, brave, assertive, strong and spirited? MAC answers this through four looks you can select from, depending on your mood for the season.
Bold. The fearlessness of bold colors lead the march with eye accents picked out in electric, kaleidoscopic hues. Sharp is one way to wear it, like a slashed line or a crisp shape adorning the eye with a decorative aerodynamic detail. There’s also the technically blurred, but no less punchy, blend of pigments.
Washed. Owning a powerful look is not necessarily one that has flamboyant colors. There is a quiet assertiveness, demonstrating the ultimate strength in the “less is more” philosophy. From a minimal skin glow to a use of discreet flesh tint tones, going natural will never lose its appeal.
Rouged. This takes the most classic and feminine of makeup shades to a new place as tones from rose pink to crimson get a revamp, thanks to unexpected placements, textures, and techniques.
Big. Reinterpret the intense eye. The iconic statement of reframing the eye with different forms of shadow and liner, as well as reworking lashes as a graphic accent, is the main focal point.

Guerlain exudes a sense of boldness in its own delicately feminine way. As though enhanced by a Photoshop filter, lips are captivating and deeply pigmented with the first hydrating and plumping matte lipstick KissKiss Matte, which gives intense color but is as comfortable as a balm. Active ingredients hyaluronic acid and Nigella sativa oil nourish lips, while a chili derivative performs an imperceptible hot and cold skin micro-massage. The gold coating on the iconic packaging by Hervé Van der Straeten is also matte. It comes in nine vivid shades.
Guerlain’s first liquid lipstick Intense Liquid Matte is a milestone for the brand. The hydrating hyaluronic acid and Centella asiatica fused in its formula sculpts lips and ensures instant, long-lasting comfort. The high concentration of pigments lights up your smile and boosts facial radiance. Color (it’s available in seven hypnotic shades) glides on easily with a brush applicator.
The rebellious streak continues with La Petite Robe Noire Black Perfecto eau de parfum. A trio of roses punctuates the facets of this perfume. At the top, a Bulgarian Rose Water reawakens the senses like early morning dew. Then, delicate notes of a Rose Essence unfold, evoking a freshly cut bouquet of flowers, along with the more sensual and powerful notes of a precious Grasse Rose Absolute. It is heightened by a hint of almond and livened up with a woody accord composed of patchouli and tonka bean.
