Kenneth Cobonpue’s launches ‘Banca’ dinnerware

Kenneth Cobonpue’s first dining-ware china collection was launched  on November 21, with ‘Banca’ as the maiden piece of the series.

The dinnerware was exclusively crafted for the benefit of MovEd Foundation, a non-profit organization founded in 2012 that advocates to bring early childhood care, development and education programs to underserved communities around the Philippines.

Cobonpue’s series was inspired by the saying, “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime” – and the designer envisions the collection to evolve into a series of dining pieces that will eventually turn the table-top into a floating village.

Banca, the maiden piece of the series, is a canapé tray in the shape of a fishing boat, produced in two sizes. A sneak preview of the next few pieces to come were revealed as well during the launch through Banquero and Arko – bigger serving plates ideal for main dishes.

The launch was graced by Vice-President Leni Robredo, one of MovEd’s staunchest supporters and partners from its early days, as well as members of MovEd’s board of trustees, other patrons, and advocates of the cause.

MovEd serves 702 students and its families in its 18 Learnings Labs in Navotas, Pasig, Parañaque, and the majority of which are in the third district of Camarines Sur.

MovEd’s holistic program includes daily classes for children ages 3 to 5 years old taught in the organization’s unique pedagogy, an in-class feeding program (in partnership with the R.S. Po Foundation), and livelihood trainings/seminars and opportunities for the parents of its students (in partnership with the local government units it works with, and various other organizations).

The piece, Banca, is available through MovEd while stocks last, after which pre-orders will be taken for delivery in the first quarter of 2018.

Banquero and Arko are also available for pre-order.
