Red, green, gold, white, and blue. These are the colors that are usually associated with Christmas.
Green is the most common because of the tree that we display in our homes. Gold is historically important because it was the present given to baby Jesus. White is also popular due to its association with purity and peace, while blue represents the sky and thus heaven. But the most popular color is undoubtedly red because it is classic and timeless. @missparisphoto from Instagram wants to sport a different kind of red, though, for one of her parties this holiday season:
“Jake! Can I sport the burgundy makeup trend without looking too Christmas-y? Planning to wear it for our Noche Buena party. Share some tips please!”
If you want to veer away from the overused red, then your next best shade is definitely burgundy. It’s a darker shade of red and which tends to look a little bit purple, leaning towards brown.
Using a burgundy shade can be easier to pull off than its red counterpart. It works perfectly with the majority of skin tones and you won’t regret using it at your never-ending parties this holiday season.
Here are some tips on how you can wear burgundy effortlessly:
It’s All In The Eyes
Using it as an eyeshadow color can be tricky because of its bold look. Apply it wrong and other people might think you have a case of the pinkeye that needs to be treated. Just like with any other makeup, the right shade is crucial. Choose a shade that looks right for your age and skin tone. Warmer and darker burgundy shades suit the morena Filipina, while lighter burgundy shades suit mestiza or fairer skin tones.
Make sure to smoke it out to make it softer. In order to pull off this shade, you may also need to use lots of mascara to frame your eyes.
In order to know which lipstick color is best for you, make sure your lips are completely devoid of any redness before applying any shade of burgundy.
The right undertone of burgundy can also make or break your look. Pink-based burgundy is perfect for those who are light-eyed. For those with darker eyes, a brown burgundy is more suitable. A blue-based burgundy that isn’t too light or too dark can work well with light or dark eye colors. The deep red shade of burgundy can be pulled off for brunettes as this perfectly balances out and supports the intense shade of burgundy.
Rich Manicure Color
You almost cannot go wrong with burgundy on your nails. This shade is great rather than the usual red. It is also suitable for any special occasion and can make you look glamorous or classical. You can keep your nails short and simple with burgundy, so that you won’t have to worry about what activity you are going to engage in.
