Summer is a time for many things – going on vacations, doing hobbies, taking a rest from work and stress, and having a garage sale! Clothes may have piled up on all 4 corners of your room and most of them you won’t wear anymore. So, this is actually the best time to rid your house of unnecessary clutter while at the same time earning from it. Include in other stuff that you will no longer use.
If you’ve ever heard of the idiom “one man’s trash, is another man’s treasure,” then you would know exactly what the goal of having a yard sale is.
But where to begin? Listed are tips that will help you on your journey to a successful garage sale:
Sort It Out
First of all, you have to sort out all of the things that you no longer need around your home. Clothes that don’t fit. Old decorations that no longer fit the theme of your home. Appliances that you would want to replace with newer ones. Everything considered useless must go. Who knows, others may have the use for it.
When’s The Date?
Next will be plotting your date. Once you have already gathered everything, it’s now time to set when you will be having your garage sale. Pick a weekend for they are the most popular days, as well as choosing the 15th or the last day of the month when people get their pays.
Make an inventory of the things that you would sell to better help you in keeping track of the things you might forget on the planned date. While you’re at it, set the prices next to the items so you will not forget.
Let People Know
Advertise. It is the key to get people show up and attend your garage sale. You can put up posters, or online posts to let people know of your upcoming event. Highlight some items that you would be selling and put up the running time of your sale.
Ready and Set
After all the nitty-gritty details are finalized, it is now time to set up your yard sale. You can set your items up on tables, boxes, or those large clear bins or containers. Sort them out neatly, and make sure each item is priced clearly. Organize them neatly to attract more buyers.
Having a garage sale requires long preparation. When the day has come, try putting up a little background music to attract people. Prepare a lot of change in hand, and accommodate your buyers, and even those who are only there to inquire, humbly.
