You look at your favorite Korean idol’s latest selcas (which is the Korean fan lingo for “selfies”) and you’re absolutely envious of her glowing “glass skin.” You decide to find out what her skincare routine is to achieve the same look, and you’re astounded at all the steps and products involved. Toner? Foaming facial cleanse? Clay masks? You look into said products and feel a bit skeptical. As natural as some brands may claim their products to be, there is no denying that they contain at least a few harmful ingredients and chemicals. Plus, not everyone can exactly fit good quality skincare products within their budgets — remember, the better the quality, chances are, the higher the price.

But fret not! For not all is lost. Did you know that you might already have the best natural skincare products right at home? Here are five homemade natural skincare recipes for you to try and have the glowing “glass skin” you’ve been dreaming of:

01.Mangoes.

Mangoes: our favorite fruit and now our favorite face mask ingredient. The King of Fruits is jam packed with phytochemicals, antioxidants, and vitamins that will give your skin the nourishment it needs. Revitalize, rejuvenate, and moisturize your skin with an avocado-mango face mask: you will need one tablespoon of mango pulp, two teaspoons of pureed avocado, and one teaspoon of coconut oil. Combine in a small bowl and mix well until you reach a smooth consistency. Apply the mask in gentle, circular motions and leave it on for ten to fifteen minutes. The added avocado in the recipe hydrates your skin as well as clears out blackheads and acne, giving your face mask an added nourishing kick.

02.Coconut oil.

If you’re quite the cook and the health buff, you probably already have coconut oil in your cupboards. Coconut oil is incredibly versatile – and not just for making food. It strengthens your skin by removing dead skin cells and protecting you from sunburns. Additionally, it contains tons of antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and antioxidant properties. Use coconut oil on your skin to cleanse, moisturize, and remove makeup, and we guarantee bright and healthy skin.

03.Honey.

Honey is one of the golden natural sources of nutrients, enzymes, and vitamins, and it is sure to help you fight off awful breakouts and dry skin. What’s even better is that it can be used on all skin types. For the best results, measure out half a teaspoon of honey and gently apply it to your face. Leave it on for ten minutes, rinse with warm water, and pat dry. With regular use, your skin will be looking smoother and feeling softer in no time.

04.Oats.

Oats contain tons of anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant chemicals that help alleviate skin irritations such as eczema and dry skin. That’s why they’re absolutely perfect for making homemade facemasks that will leave you with smoother, softer, and clearer skin. One good recipe would be a milk and oatmeal face mask that only requires a tablespoon of whole rolled oats and two tablespoons of whole or 2% milk depending on your preferences. Measure them into a mixing bowl and combine well until mixture is smooth and even. To apply, wash your face with warm water and gently apply the mixture. Let it sit for twenty minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water.

05.Sea salt.

Make your own exfoliating and moisturizing scrub by mixing two teaspoons of sea salt with four teaspoons of raw honey. Apply the mix evenly on your skin; leave it on for fifteen minutes, and rinse. This works because sea salt is loaded with minerals and nutrients that are great for soothing the skin and removing dead skin cells. Mixed with a perfect moisturizing agent like honey – or even coconut oil – you create the perfect all-natural scrub.
