The Fab Gala Goes Avante Garde in Black and White

Ladies-about-town, it’s time to get glamorous with a not-to-be-missed exhibit and ball with the “The Fab Gala: Avant Garde in B&W” of bonafide fabulous photographer, Rupert Jacinto, dubbed “Photographer to the Fabulous” by The Washington Post. Rupert’s fresh ideas and innovations integrate his portraits seamlessly with captivating digital backgrounds, which brings it to life in one’s living room. The Faaabvlous event is a long-standing partnership with The Peninsula Manila and with the Advertising Foundation of the Philippines. Having made a name for himself in the world of portraiture, Jacinto possesses a visual allure which draws people yearly to his Faaabvlous exhibits and book launches.

Jacinto’s abiding fascination with beauty and elegance with a tinge of drama, pulls his timeless style with panache. His Faaabvlous series has been received with much adulation. Now on its ninth year, big plans are afoot for “Faaabvlous, The Decade” next year. The guests of honor in this year’s Faaabvlous are: National Artist Alice Reyes; Senator Sherwin Gatchalian; H.E. ambassador Harald Fries, H.E. ambassador Jaideep Mazumdar and Mark Choon, GM of The Peninsula Manila. This year’s Faaabvlous icons are: N.A. Alice Reyes, Mercy Arrastia Tuason, Nene Tuason Quimson, and Margie Floirendo. Rupert had photographed these ladies decades back. The exhibit shall be held with champagne cocktails at The Gallery of The Peninsula Manila. As the days draw near, there is a built up anticipation on the gala, with the glitz, the glamour of the ladies dressed in red carpet gowns. This year, avant garde in black and white is the theme; and Hermes gift bags shall be awarded to the Most Faaabvlous in Evening Gown—in black, in white, and in black and white.

Entertainment shall be provided by Rachelle Gerodias and Byeong-In Park. Carina Dignos shall render Tina Turner songs with music by Danny Favis. A Ramon Orlina sculpture will be auctioned off by emcee Bea Escudero and raffle prizes include a Salvatore Ferragamo bag from Stores Specialists, Inc., Samsung Note 9 from Globe Platinum, GC from City of Dreams, Muebles Italiano, jewelry from Lilibeth Campos of Elizaabeth C, GC’s of an overnight stay from The Peninsula Manila, Marriott Manila, and Kandaya Resort. The Faaabvlous Cover ladies are: Mache Torres Ackerman, Jacqueline Michelle Lim, Ruby Pacis and Shirley Sobremonte. The 2018 Women of Faaabvlous are: Danda Buhain, Yamani Caliwara, Lina Castillo, Tiffany Copok, Charito Luna, Dana Silverio, Namrata Singh, Bingbing Singson, Sheilla Tiongco, Gina Ty, and Sistine Van Loan. The Faaabvlous Men of distinction are: senator Sherwin Gatchalian, Andres Barrioquinto, atty. Ronald Pasamba, Amir Sali, Jerry Acuzar, Frank Evaristo, Cid Reyes, and Dr. Norman San Agustin.

The event is in support of its advocacy programs, and in support of the Hydrocephalus Foundation of the Philippines.
