The whimsical poster behind the cashier at their Greenbelt 3 pop-up shop says it all. Its growing fan base will attest that this proudly Filipino luxe leather goods brand features bags that carry your daily (and travel!) essentials in effortless style.
Established in 2009, Katre is an indie design studio based in Manila and first began with a clothing line before it made its way into chic leather goods. Helmed by former stylist and fashion editor Kat Erro, the brand was founded on the need to promote individuality in a stylish way. “Our vision for Katre: Produce a brand for women who have amazing taste and are not dictated by trends, and produce [the merchandise] in small quantities.” Thus, Katre is designed for the woman who chooses luxury in quality over the latest trends. Kat adds, “I don’t have a muse in mind when I design; I just design what I need as a working mom and luckily, it translates into something that our core customers need, too.”
Katre exclusively designs and manufactures all the leather items it offers. Each one is produced with the intent of defining luxury in the most unconventional way: magnifying the essential (high-grade leathers, careful craftsmanship) and editing out the unnecessary (big logos, gaudy frills), guaranteeing customers a well-thought out design that is simply chic, timeless, and functional.
A peek at their pop-up shop in Greenbelt had us drooling over their current collection of adorable circle bags, sleek and functional slings (a bestseller with jet-setters), and sophisticated structured bags, available in a range of chic neutrals or playfully vibrant colors. “To date, our bestsellers are from the Boite, Camden, City, and Sloane collections. This year, the Bumbag is having an amazing run; all ages and genders respond to it,” shares Kat. Completing the collection are small leather goods such as wallets, calling card cases, and key rings.
For a special touch, personalize your Katre piece with your name or initials (it’s a thoughtful idea for gifts, too!). Simply ask Katre about their monogramming services with your purchase.
