Taal’s Twin

A new home for tourists offers luxury, comfort, and homegrown grapes

By Dom Galeon

Even with new travel destinations popping up all over the country, Tagaytay and its nearby provinces have not lost their appeal. It’s relatively easier to visit, a quick getaway from a busy week, particularly for those coming from the metro.

It’s not surprising that more and more establishments have been built around Taal Lake in the recent years. Just last December, a new hotel opened its doors to the public. Boasting a unique view of nearby Taal Lake and the volcano within it, Twin Lakes is the newest homegrown hotel developed by Megaworld’s Global-Estate Resorts, Inc. (GERI), operated and managed by Megaworld Hotels.

It’s far from your usual hotel, even the ones in Tagaytay. Twin Lakes Hotel is located inside a 1,200-hectare property in Laurel, Batangas. With 122 rooms designed to give its guests a luxuriously comfortable experience, this hotel takes inspiration from French Mediterranean design, replete with its own vineyard. Already Twin Lakes Hotel is being recognized for its superb architecture and design, having been named Country Winner for Best Hotel Development in Asia at the 2018 Asia Property Awards.

Leading the launch were Alliance Global Group CEO Kevin Tan, Megaworld COO Lourdes Gutierrez Alfonso, GERI president Monica Salomon, Global One Hotel Inc. managing director Raymundo Melendres, Twin Lakes Hotel general manager Jun Jimenez, and representatives from local government led by Laurel, Batangas vice-mayor Filimon Austria, and Alfonso, Cavite vice-mayor Randy Salamat.

“I think that everybody will agree that the new hotel is, so to speak, the flavor of the area,” says Jun Jimenez. “And our main competitor in Tagaytay is already saturated.”

Indeed, Twin Lakes Hotel has everything all the other hotels in the area have to offer—and more. Just a leisurely walk from the hotel is the Twin Lakes Shopping Village, with what has been dubbed as “the most beautiful Starbucks in the Philippines” and many other establishments and facilities that guests can enjoy. “It’s a community. When you go to Twin Lakes, everything is here, everything is nearby,” Jun adds

                                                                          Twin Lakes Cafe

Twin Lakes Hotel offers a business center, a boardroom and meeting rooms, a game room, a heated infinity pool with a view of Taal Lake, an outdoor lounge, and a grand ballroom that can fit up to 500 people. There’s also the Twin Lakes Café, an all-day dining restaurant facing the hotel’s vineyard and Taal Lake. This café’s signature dishes include Twin Lake’s own version of the Tagaytay favorite bulalo.

Guests who have Megaworld’s exclusive Club Access privilege card can enjoy exciting perks and privileges at Twin Lakes Hotel.
