Filipino food is ranked as the 4th least popular cuisine in the world, according to an online study released on Thursday.
London-based firm YouGov revealed that Filipino cuisine was among one of the least popular dishes in the world, with an average popularity score of 36% across all the countries surveyed.
The survey was based on 25,000 respondents from 24 different countries.
The figures showed that Japanese are the most to dislike Filipino dishes with an average score of 21%. In fact, the survey also found they are the harshest food critics of any nation surveyed with only 39% of Japanese saying they liked any of the foreign food served.
Meanwhile, Filipinos themselves showed a high preference of 97% for their own cuisine.
Among all nationalities, YouGov said Filipinos are the ones who most likely to appreciate international cuisine. “An average of 67% of Filipinos who had tried any given cuisine said they liked it, with only five types of food being liked by fewer than half.”
The world’s most popular cuisine is Italian food, with an average score of 99%, while the least popular cuisine in the world is Peruvian, receiving an average score of just 32%.
