The sequel for the romantic novel “PS, I Love You” is now in the works.
The news was confirmed by its author Cecelia Ahern on Instagram on Wednesday.
“I have news! BIG NEWS!” she wrote. “I’ve done it. I’ve written the sequel to PS I LOVE YOU and it’s titled POSTSCRIPT. It’s the P.S to my P.S of 15 years ago and writing it has been an emotional experience.”
“I don’t know how I’ve succeeded in keeping this a secret for so long but I’ve been bursting to share it,” she added.
Ahern said the “POSTSCRIPT” will be published by HarperCollins on Sept. 19 in Ireland and the UK. It will also be published by Grand Central Publishing in the US, although the official date was not disclosed.
In a statement on her website, Ahern described the novel as a “deeply emotional novel”.
“Postscript is the PS to my PS and while it is a sequel, it is also a story that stands alone about living a purposeful life in the face of illness, grief and loss. I hope that new readers and PS, I Love You fans alike will embrace Holly’s new journey,” she said.
The novel follows the story of couple Holly and Gerry who were stricken by tragedy when Gerry died from a brain tumour. Holly then discovered that Gerry left 10 letters for her, each one with a sign “PS I Love You”.
In 2007, “P.S. I Love You”| was turned into a film starring Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler.
