It was the “Hit Me Baby One More Time” era where Nike Airs, CDs, and old Mercedes were everywhere and on MTV, we were always like, “Will the real Slim Shady please stand up?” Don’t look now, but the ‘90s fever sizzles this summer.

One of the brands taking a trip down the memory lane is Guess with its capsule collection, Guess Vibras, a collaboration with Latin music artist J Balvin.

The ‘90s staples such as tracksuits, pullovers, bomber jackets, and tie-dyed garments ruled the runway at the launch of Guess Vibras at The Island at Bonifacio Global City last week.

Strutting in tune to J Balvin’s popular hit, “Mi Gente,” celebrities, models, and influencers showcased the new summer designs of Guess Vibras in vintage game house colors decorated with ‘90s iconography including the triangular Guess logo. Among the people on the runway were stars and models Will Devaughn and Roxanne Barcelo, together with Issa Pressman.

It is no shock that the music of the Columbian reggaeton singer was a hit in the local scene. Filipinos after all are the Latinos of Asia. The award-winning singer shared that the Guess Vibras collection was all about “nice energy and nice vibes,” and everyone partied on as long as the booze flowed.

Inspired as well by the artist’s Vibras album, Guess Vibras plays up the ‘90s Miami culture on the funky beats of hip-hop music. J Balvin is the perfect fit for Guess “because of his outlook, his culture, his love for fashion, and his music,” said Mirella Cruz, marketing manager of Guess PH. “He was able to infuse these concepts into the whole collection that is very young, very vibrant, and very fun.”

This 42-piece capsule collection is available at Guess stores in Glorietta, SM Megamall, Trinoma, Robinson’s Ermita, Ayala Alabang Town Center, and Ayala Cebu.
