Known for its vintage, edgy aesthetic, the L.A. fashion brand Guess takes a detour from its staples wrapped in leather, denim, and sensuality and mixes things with a botanical flair featuring designs that are romantic, dainty, and green for its spring collection.
The launch of the spring 2019 collection of Guess at Flossom Kitchen + Cafe in San Juan City plays on an intimate tone, with racks of fresh designs lined up for you to touch, feel, and try on. Guests are provided with their own styling kits to play dress-up, as they took photos, and nibbled on afternoon delights.
It was a battlefield of style as Guess draws its inspiration from the opposing worlds of love and war, highlighting the beauty in contrast with an ethical initiative to back it up.
Gardens and Van Gogh-like Prints
Romantic flounces in delicate pastels of yellow and blush, painted with garden flowers too pretty you could almost smell them, are dressed down with Guess acid wash denim jackets that mimic the pale blue sky of springtime.
For the guys, cool tie-dyes embossed with the brand’s logo and Hawaiian shirts in a spectrum of color are in oversized silhouettes for that chill vibe. Easy tees carry enigmatic abstract Van Gogh-ish prints.
Ready for battle
G.I. Joe is the inspiration for the first Guess Activewear line. Pieces in a military palette of black and olive greens add a stylish punch to your every day grind both at the gym and on high street. Cropped hoodies and track pants are the modern combat suit for the all-around cadet. The Guess Activewear is a salute to their market that aims to outrun themselves.
Going back to nature
Sustainability is no longer a trend, but a duty every brand and designer is starting to embrace. Guess is offering a line of environmentally conscious clothing—the Guess Eco—showcasing basics that are made with special denim that allows them to use less water in the dying process, along with recycled fabrics and other sustainably sourced materials like organic cotton. Guess Eco is composed of timeless tees and jeans bearing the brand logo and signature henley.
“We try to cater to a much broader market,” says Mirella Cruz, marketing manager for Guess PH. “All the pieces are stylish, wearable, and have many takes on fashion.
Surely, there is something within the collection that resonates with them.”
