Two weeks ago, I was able to join DreamPlay’s first ever Summer Dream Workshop. It is a six-day program that enhances your skills in singing and dancing, and also helps in boosting up your confidence level. I was also able to gain a lot of new friends from the ages of six to 13 years old. Aside from the voice and dance activities, we got a DreamPlay all-day pass, two shirts, a complete lunch meal, a scrapbook, and souvenir photos.
I have already joined some voice lessons before but nothing can compare to this. In just six days, I was able to sing confidently in front of many people unlike before where I was extremely nervous when going up the stage. The coaches would correct some things to make our performance better and after all the corrections, our voices sounded really different. According to my friends, it was like the coaches just did some stuff and then our voices magically sounded really good. We realized that there were some notes that we didn’t know we could reach but did. As for the dancing, it was really fun. I had a few dancing workshops before but this one was overall the most fun one. I like the way the teachers approach the students and add a little goofiness to the dance. My personal favorite was the jazz dance since it was really enjoyable and I just really loved it.
Overall, I learned a lot from this workshop. I learned that we should always be ourselves and don’t let anything stop us. I have also discovered a different side of me—I am usually shy and I don’t have enough confidence to show my talent but this helped me show people another side of me and I really enjoyed it. I hope would be able to join more of these activities.
City of Dreams Manila’s DreamPlay, the only DreamWorksinspired interactive play space in the world, held the “Summer Dream Workshop” from May 6 to 12. Open to children ages six to 13, the six-day singing and dancing workshop let kids and discover their skills in performing arts, boost their self-confidence, and at the same time, make new friends throughout the program.
A fitting educational yet fun-filled activity for kids this summer season, the singing workshop includes exploring various vocal exercises, the application of proper singing techniques, and concepts on basic stage performance; while the dance workshop involves lectures and exercises on the creative process of dance, choreography, improvisation, as well as different types of routines and techniques in Jazz Funk, Modern Dance, and Hip Hop.
As a culminating activity of the workshop, participants performed live last May 11. Watch this space for future announcements of DreamPlay
