Among the most inspiring cities in the world, Paris stands out for its style. One that also defines Paris is its ladies. Much like the swans of New York, Parisian ladies are elegant, classy, intelligent, and always dressed in their finest outfits. But what sets the Parisian women apart is that je ne sais quoi factor. Pretty vague, but think of the character Amélie Poulain and her eccentric life and personality, the passion of the redhead cabaret actress Satine from the movie Moulin Rouge!, and Josephine Baker, one of the celebrated performers of the Folies Bergère. All of these ladies are different in many ways but are uniquely enthralling because of that je ne sais quoi factor—unknown and intoxicating. Artistry Studio tries to bring that charm to Manila, adding a little touch of Paris to a Filipina’s daily living.
It’s hard not to be intrigued by the Parisian way of life as there is always art in everything they do. As Henry Van Dyke said in one of his poem, America For Me, “Paris is a woman’s town, with flowers in the hair.” It’s just very fitting to draw inspiration from a city every woman dreams to live in.
Under the helm of one of the largest direct selling businesses in the world, Amway Corporation, Artistry Studio’s new Parisian style edition is an ode to the City of Love, bringing its romanticism through color palettes that are bold yet minimal, enhancing the natural beauty of its wearer. The cosmetics are crafted by the color team based in New York and every product are manufactured in Michigan, where the headquarter of Amway is located.
“Fun, playful, and daring,” is how Daniela Farmache, head of Market Innovation of Amway Philippines, describes the line. Adding to the fun, the makeup line also features the design of French artist, Adolie Day, whose whimsical characters and illustrations are present on the packaging of the products. The artist finds inspiration for her drawings in everyday life, from her friendships to the pages of a magazine or scene in a movie.
Sights in Fashion
Inspired by the rich history of Parisian couture—the sharply tailored design of “Le Smoking” by Yves Saint Laurent, the classic femininity of Coco Chanel, and the love for color of Christian Dior, are all reflected in its line of eye shadow palettes coming in a range of textures. From matte neutrals and dainty pastels to vibrant watercolors and bold hues that glimmer under the lights, the eye shadow palettes provide more ways to wear that enigmatic Parisian eye.
Painting the lips
Treat your lips like a work of art with shades mirroring Paris’ most notable art scene—Bastille Berries, Louvre Lilac, Mona Lisa Melon, and Notre Dame Nude. Make your lips a canvas for art with swipes a la Monet’s lily pads, Van Gogh’s sunflowers, or Da Vinci’s soft strokes with their full-shine, full-coverage liquid lipsticks.
Paris is also known for its cafés. According to Louis-Sébastien Mercier, a French dramatist, there were some 600 or 700 cafés in Paris before the Revolution. And now, you can easily get the pulse of the city just by sitting in a cafe and watching things happen as people walk by. Be a natural belle with delicately arched brows with tints in the shade of brewed drinks in those artisanal coffee shop—Crème Caramel and Café Chocolat.
Helping people live better lives, Amway, through Artistry Studio, provides products that both beautify and are rooted in science. “We want to make sure that what goes into our body is the same as it is in nature. Us using a direct-selling model, it also empowers it our sellers and that’s one of the beauties of the business,” says Farmache.
