Throughout his illustrious career, fashion icon Frederick Peralta has helped many socialites and celebrities land on the best-dressed lists, with his gorgeous evening gowns and men’s suits catching attention on any red-carpet gathering. His wedding gowns with his signature silhouettes and distinct eye for detail have made many a blushing bride feel like royalty on her special day.

Frederick is hailed as a fashion luminary who has inspired the next generations of Filipino designers to dream big, after his work gained recognition abroad, including the winning the grand prize in the 1994 Internacionale des Jeunes Creatures de Mode in Paris with his intricately beaded gown, which was aptly called “The Pearl of the Orient.”

Now, the industry and his clients have started to give back to the creative genius, as the designer has been undergoing therapy for a stroke that he suffered last year. Frederick Peralta is now under the care of a home health care provider with a team of physicians, registered nurses, physical therapists, nutritionists/dieticians, medical technologists, and trained caregivers looking after his wellbeing.

Friends are now rallying together to help support his treatments through fundraisers featuring his works. The Marriott organized “ Shop and Help” a trunk sale ongoing until Sunday, June 23, that features several of his creations ranging from an assortment of sleek and colorful evening gowns, to well-crafted and distinctive gentlemen’s suits, and wedding dresses that are captivating confections in white.

This is the second time that Marriott Manila is hosting the fund-raising trunk show for Frederick Peralta. “The same month last year, Federico: An Exhibit and Trunk Show Sale was organized here at Marriott. I am so thankful that the hotel that I work with is very supportive, providing the venue for this trunk sale is such a great help,” says Michelle Garcia, cluster director of Marketing Communications for Marriott Hotels.

Frederick’s only sister Len Peralta-Caro (US-based) came home to look after him following his stroke, and she works closely with friends like Barge Ramos, Dr. Dale Avellanosa, Gerry Sunga, and Mitch Garcia. All of the remaining gowns, menswear, and other creations of Frederick are on sale at the fundraising event, where everything must go. His pieces, originally priced from hundreds of thousands will be sold in between P15,000 and P1,000 or even less.

Mitch adds that those who would like to contribute directly to Frederick’s treatments may do so through manilamarriott@gmail.com and likewise encourages visits to “Mother Fred” at Home Health Care in Anonas QC.  Information about Frederick Peralta is posted on Mitch’s Facebook account.
