Double celebration

By Jane Kingsu-Cheng

Mommy Niña Corpuz has always hosted intimate birthday parties for her children. But last Saturday was extra special as her daughters, Stella and Emily, turned 7 and 5 respectively.

Despite having birthdays that are two months apart, Nina thought it would be practical to have a double celebration.

“Stella turned 7 last May 1 and Emily is turning 5 on July 25. Unfortunately for Stella, her birthday happens during the summer break and she never really had a party with her classmates. This year, Stella is at an age where she’s forming tighter bonds with her classmates and told us that she really wanted to celebrate with them. We decided for them to have a joint party since Emily’s birthday is coming up. The two sisters are also very close, so I’m sure celebrating together was very memorable for them,” shared Nina.

Classmates of the two celebrants checked in at Kidzania Manila, and proceeded straight to the ABS-CBN Theater. The highlight of the party was the two girls singing their hearts out to the songs “Speechless” and “A Whole New World” from the movie “Aladdin.” The two girls love the movie so much that they watched it four times already. Nina revealed that her two daughters dreamed of singing the songs on stage, and where else to sing these songs but at their birthday party? When asked how the girls prepared for their song number, Nina revealed that she doesn’t believe that kids should take voice lessons until they reach puberty. She did, however, signed them up for a few classes with a voice teacher just to get them ready for their song numbers.

Party games were lined up, which ended with the traditional blowing of the candles and distribution of loot bags. Guests had their lunch at the Main Square, and the afternoon was given to the kids to try out all the activities on their own. Stella and Emily were seen roaming around the venue together, proving that the sister bond they have is strong. “Stella and Emily have common interests: Wall climbing, dancing, music and art. We wish they continue exploring, learning and having fun all at the same time. At this point, we just want them to have a happy and memorable childhood and to grow up with the right values,” ended Nina.
