5 things to do when you head to Grab’s NakakaLOKAL Fair

In time for Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa, Grab is bringing homegrown food brands and all-time bazaar faves together for a celebration of everything LOKAL. Pinoy ingenuity, craftsmanship, and flavor take the spotlight as the Philippines’ everyday super app holds a massive fair that can only be described as NakakaLOKAL!

Here’s a guide on what to expect in Grab’s most exciting event to date.

1. Savor food that’s all Filipino

The way to a Filipino’s heart is through his stomach. A cultural melting pot, our nation’s passion for food is deeply entwined in our everyday lives so that world-class regional delicacies exist and are celebrated in every province. Remarkable and deserving of praise are the micro-entrepreneurial purveyors that help take these culinary treasures further by adding their own recipes for innovation.

A showcase of entrepreneurial genius combined with gastronomic flair, #GrabNakakaLOKAL will banner crowd-favorite food brands all made accessible through the everyday tech-savvy mobile Pinoy through Grab.

Mouthwatering signatures ranging from a steaming plate of shawarma rice (Uncle Moe’s) to rice bacon topped with melted cheese (Ate Rica’s Bacsilog), or even sinfully dry crispy sisig (Aysee’s Sisig) are sure to make the fair a Filipino foodie’s delight.

What’s more, fair goers can sample freshly-made on-the-spot Ilocos empanada (Empanada Nation), cheesy-spicy sausages (Cow Wow Sausage Haus), or try the kansi (Liezl’s La Paz Batchoy), a fresh twist on the Batangas bulalo. Meanwhile, those with a sweet tooth can try merienda treats and kakanin straight from San Fernando, Pampanga (Nathaniel’s).

2. Shop for local finds

Take home artisanal finds proudly made by Filipino hands, with brands curated by all-Filipino digital marketplace karton.ph. Shop for items like natural and organic moisturizing skin solutions (Bebebalm), soothing balms and calming oils (Natural Balance), and moisturizing soaps handcrafted from Carabao’s milk (Kala Milk).

The bazaar also serves as a go-to pasalubong central with booths that sell premium Davao-sourced tablea from world-class cacao plantations in the South (Auro Chocolate), natural organic superfoods (Green Tummy), and other local souvenir staples (Foodsource).

In support of DTI’s campaign for the appreciation of Philippine traditions, patterns, colors, and styles, the fair will also house its own Go Lokal! store, a place where people can shop for products sourced from more than 300 Philippine MSMEs.

3. Use your GrabRewards points in exchange for items

Use your GrabRewards points to get items from featured local brands — all redeemable when you head to the GrabRewards booth at the NakakaLOKAL fair!

You can also enjoy NakakaLOKAL discounts and freebies from eco-friendly social enterprise Bambuhay, modern casual wear for stylish Filipinos Folded N Hung, handwoven fashion and fair-trade lifestyle brand Akaba, and poverty alleviation and nation-building movement Gawad Kalinga at Grab’s own P99 point store!

4. Win free local travel packages

5. Help Grab put more businesses on the map

Last but not the least, those looking for ways to keep the NakakaLOKAL fever burning can help Grab reach its goal of putting 1,000 small and medium local enterprises on the map just by visiting the interactive on-site mapping booth and nominating a local brand you’d want to see on the app.

In doing so, you are helping Grab welcome more merchants into an ecosystem where everyone does their part to help each other prosper and bring people closer to the things that matter to them.

More than an effort to make local businesses a scroll and a tap away, NakakaLOKAL is Grab’s way of getting everyone to support a circular economy that empowers millions of local microentrepreneurs, all while making things engaging and fun with exclusive deals, exciting partnerships, and lots of amazing surprises.
