Beauty is what you make of it. It is undefined and limitless.” So goes the latest affirmative mantra of Shiseido, a globally renowned Japanese makeup brand, which is burnishing its presence in the country with the introduction of its first Filipino ambassador—KC Concepcion.
“KC personifies the Shiseido woman—a natural beauty who’s smart, confident, and not afraid to go after what she wants,” says general manager of Shiseido Philippines Genevieve Yalung. “We noticed how KC talked about Shiseido on her social media and it really caught our attention. It’s not usual for someone of her stature to have so much belief in and love for a brand, so we decided that she would be the perfect fit as the ambassador of our latest makeup launch.”
The budding jeweler joins the company’s growing roster of female brand ambassadors, including tennis champion Naomi Osaka, South Korean singer Kim Chung Ha, and actress Park Min Young.
“Shiseido is a wonderful brand that is known all over the world, and it’s really an honor for a Filipina to be given this opportunity,” beams KC.
Last minute fixes
KC got the attention of Shiseido when she posted an Instagram story in which, looking for an eyelash curler, she ran to the brand’s Power Plant Mall store, only to find it closed for a private event. The following day, Shiseido sent her some makeup from its new collection, which she brought with her when she flew to New York with her family a few months ago.
“I’ve made emergency lash curler runs to the Shiseido store in the mall right before closing time just because my face doesn’t feel complete without using it. Their lash curler helps open up my eyes and make me look alive,” KC says. “One time, my purchase wasn’t so successful because the store had a private event and the doors were closed. I posted about my night out without freshlooking eyes and it caught on. The next day, I was so shocked to see a whole makeup line from Shiseido. I got to try everything and couldn’t help but rave—and post— about the new makeup they were coming out with.”
Along with the announcement of KC’s role as the newest face of Shiseido Philippines, the brand also unveiled its Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation, a lightweight fluid foundation whose breathable coverage lasts up to 24 hours. Available in eight shades, the new foundation is infused with SPF 30, skin-caring antioxidants, and light-reflecting pearl powder to enhance the skin’s texture.

Flawless all day
Shiseido has proven itself a key player in the rise of Japanese beauty by utilizing both traditional ingredients and modern technological advancements.
Composed of seven products, 73 shades, and two brushes, the Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing collection features intuitive formulas that sense, respond, and renew to maintain a just-applied, flawless finish all day. The two tools created to accompany this new range were also inspired by ancient Japanese beauty rituals refined over centuries for an effortless application.
The core products in the makeup line—Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation, Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Cushion Compact, and Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Concealer— were developed with two technologies: Active Force Technology, which synchronizes with skin to resist sweat, oil, and motion, and 4-Fold Technology that defends against air pollution.
