aking rounds on social media over the weekend was a girl wearing a neon green long-sleeved Gucci dress, donning a mod bob replete with hexagon-shaped exaggerated sunglasses and dangling chains hanging down her chest. That girl was Hannah Locsin, the very first homegrown Filipina model to ever walk the runway of the Milan-based fashion house. In an Instagram story, Locsin posted, “No words can explain how much this means to me. Debuting Gucci at #MFW is a major dream come true.”
She expressed her gratitude to Gucci’s Davide Renne, Michela Tafuri, and the brand’s creative director, Alessandro Michele. Locsin’s encounter with the fashion genius through a reflection on her humungous eyewear was also captured in an Instagram story. Designers
Designers and fellow models showed their support for the fashion milestone. Among those who sent hearts, kisses, and congratulatory messages were designer Lesley Mobo, newly-crowned Miss World 2019 Michelle Dee, artist Gabrielle Gibbs, matinee idol Gil Cuerva, and fashion photographer Dookie Ducay.
