Vinyl discs hanging on the ceiling, disco balls glittering to the evening’s music, which ranged from classic tunes by Frank Sinatra to OPM standards belted by Joey Generoso to groovy and funky ‘80s new wave courtesy of Juan Miguel Salvador, matched by diner staples like hotdogs, burgers, chicken and pasta, donuts served in white and red checkered table cloths—it was an evening of nostalgia, made even more nostalgic by guests dressed in leather jackets over white shirts paired with jeans.
They were all there to celebrate Sorsogon governor Chiz Escudero’s birthday, who was of course accompanied by his wife Love Marie Ongpauco-Escudero, dressed as Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn) in that iconic black Givenchy dress. Complementing Heart’s look that evening was her sister-in-law Dette Escudero-Quirante, who channeled her inner Jackie O in a blue sheath dress. In all, it was a vibrantly vintage affair full of family, friends, well-wishers who, delighted by the party’s roaring retro vibes, dancing the night away.
