The Bar of The Peninsula Manila lands a spot in Forbes Travel Guide’s (FTG) catalog of the World’s Best Hotel Bars. It is the only Philippine establishment included among the 44 of the most prestigious hotel bars all over the globe.
Derived from detailed data collected by FTG inspectors who anonymously stay at hotels to evaluate them based on 900 standards, the list has no particular ranking. FTG is an independent, global rating system of luxury hotels, restaurants, and spas.
These establishments were selected for more than just the quality and presentation of their drinks, as even the ambiance down to the napkins were evaluated. All the bars that appeared on the list have achieved near-perfect scores, so being part of it is a huge deal. This proves that The Bar is world-class.
Adorned in checkered flooring and wooden walls, The Bar draws inspiration from an old Cuban cigar factory—it is the designated smoking area of the Peninsula Hotel. Some of the recommended food are the pica-pica pork sisig croquetas (balls of creamy béchamel and crispy pork), and Sriracha butter duck wings. For spirits, one of the must-trys is the Batangas Old Fashioned which swaps in Maker’s Mark infused with Kapeng Barako.
Aside from The Bar, only two other hotel bars from Southeast Asia made it on the index. These are Martini Bar at The Villas at AYANA Resort in Bali and Post Bar at The Fullerton Hotel in Singapore. Meanwhile, Z Bar of The Peninsula Chicago and The Club Bar of The Peninsula Beverly Hills are two other The Peninsula hotel bars to appear on the directory.
The Bar is open from 3:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. daily.
