Held last month at the Manila Ballroom of Marriot Hotel, fashion designer Michael Leyva mounted his 30th birthday celebration in heavenly fashion, with soft clouds, shimmering lights, and mirrored furniture.
“The inspiration is the sky full of stars,” the designer told Manila Bulletin Lifestyle exclusively. “I was inspired by clouds, heavenly bodies, and my brother Brian Leyva, who is my angel. All throughout my career, he’s always been there for me. He has been guiding me in every process of my design. So, tonight is a dedication to him as well as a thanksgiving to all who have supported me.”

The theme was evident throughout the ballroom, from the set design of Gideon Hermosa and event styling by Christine Ong Te, to the fashion styling of Reynaldo Santos, Jr. and show direction by Robby Carmona.
“I have several collections displayed for tonight,” Leyva said. “There’s white, fuchsia, blue, yellow, red, and green, representing my years as a designer.”
Even with a full calendar of weddings and shows ahead, Levya still dreams of having another international show in the coming year as a birthday wish. “I left for Europe last month for a fashion exhibition in Paris,” Leyva said. “With hope, next year will be bigger with my global plans in motion.”
