Nothing Short of Faaabvlous

By Tina Hidalgo-Jacinto

Euphoric Rupert Jacinto, internationally acclaimed and gifted portrait photographer, beamed happily as the Faaabvlous (FAB) gala opened with exclamatory hype, where Faaabvlous A-listers made a Hollywood–like entrance at his “Faaabvlous 10” exhibit and FAB gala. Everyone was in high spirits. Totally creative and always looking forward, Jacinto’s gala has reached its 10th year and has become the event FAB guests would not want to miss every year.

Presented in partnership with the Advertising Foundation of the Philippines, the dual event was held at the Marriott Grand Ballroom of Marriott Manila under the theme “Haute Couture in Black, White, and Gold.”

Contributing to the convivial vibe was an extensive cocktail selection from Tita Trillo of Titania Wine Cellar, Lina Castillo of Liquid Gold, and Ozeki Sake, with its New York representative Yukimura Sato. Yuki, a former sushi chef in New York, introduced the Ozeki Sake champagne, the sake with gelatine, to the Faaabvlous ladies as they did photo-ops with their beautiful photos on display. Ozeki Sake’s CEO and third generation owner, Kuniko Osabe, together with Yukimura and Liezl Sato, flew in especially for the occasion.

Renowned event organizer and Faaabvlous Man of Distinction Robert Blancaflor created an awesome display of drama at the ballroom with glittering silver trees and chandeliers, with lights hanging on its branches. The event was in support of the advocacy programs of the Advertising Foundation of the Philippines, as well as Ako Ang Saklay’s drug rehabilitation program. The iconic emcee Johnny Litton welcomed the ambassadors, guests of honor, and attendees. Marriott Manila’s gem, marketing communications cluster director Mitch Garcia led the opening remarks.

A surprise of the evening was the launch of the Faaabvlous theme song, music by National Artist Ryan Cayabyab, arranged by Danny Favis, lyrics by Rupert Jacinto, and sung by Brendon Benares.

The stage was set for the unveiling of the “Faaabvlous 10” cover ladies. A dazzling and glittery fashion show of the year’s awardees showcased out-ofthe box silhouettes from today’s hottest designers. Auctioned off were paintings by Mario de Rivera, Norman Dreo, Eric Cachero, and a sculpture by Ramon Orlina. Another surprise of the evening was the ramp appearances of Gerry Ereneta Sunga with his fabulous gown and stunning jewelry which he himself created, and Enan Almando in his own creation. Along with the Men of Distinction, all “Faaabvlous 10” participants exhibited glamour, stunning accessories, and pride in their expression of style.
