A Filipino Christmas for an Iconic Hotel
The Manila Hotel is all decked in Filipino-themed Christmas decors with Christmas installations made of handwoven fabric from Iloilo and decorations made of capiz. Lending a sense of arrival is a two-story Iloilo mansion-inspired Christmas gift house, which emphasizes the lobby’s high ceiling and scale. The giant Christmas tree, placed beside the work “Early Traders” by Fernando Amorsolo, gives off an amberish glow once lit up. The hotel also continues its tradition of giving to its chosen beneficiary, the House of Refuge Foundation, an organization that provides homes to abandoned street children aged four to 17.
Solaire Resort and Casino
Solaire Resort and Casino is celebrating the Yuletide celebration with the theme “Heart of the Holidays,” wishing to be a home full of warmth for its guests, and that Christmas can be found with the people we spend it with. Their annual tree lighting ceremony was made even more special by the participation of Ballet Manila headed by Liza Macuja-Elizalde, performing excerpts of “The Nutcracker.”
Resorts World Manila
Stars of the Holiday Collide
Christmas begins early at the country’s premier entertainment and lifestyle destination, Resorts World Manila, with the launch of its annual “Grand Fiesta Manila.” Aside from lighting its 35-feet Christmas tree at the Newport Plaza, guests were also treated with performances by Gary Valenciano, Juris, and Side A, an early treat to RWM’s lineup of musical celebration for the Yuletide season.
Christmas is Merrier at Marriott
Marriott Manila welcomed the Yuletide season with circus performances, carnival games, and a lighting of a lavish 20-foot-tall white and gold spruce-adorned with recycled dried elements, rustic woodland-themed balls, and vintage ornaments that make for an elegant Christmas tree that towers over the lobby. Save the Children ambassador Katarina Rodriguez presented Marriott’s partnership with the world’s leading independent children’s organization to bring to life the spirit of giving this holiday season. All proceeds of every purchased toy handknit by the Ifugao weavers go to the fundraising projects of Save the Children to aid in spreading hope in the world, especially for the little ones.
Sheraton Manila Hotel
A Festive Season of Giving Back and Merrymaking
As if the picture-perfect Christmas tree and decked halls weren’t magical enough, Sheraton Manila Hotel made the guest experience even sweeter with its philanthropic efforts. The hotel, which opened early this year, celebrated its first Christmas tree lighting ceremony with a performance from Children’s Joy Choir followed by the announcement of its collaboration with Save the Children Philippines for a special gift tag. Proceeds will be donated straight to the group’s Sustainable Area-Focused Empowering (SAFE) Programs. The culinary elves of Sheraton also whipped up delightful treats to make gift-giving easier. Available are the Classic Hamper filled with Filipino-made and flavored items, and Oori Deluxe Hamper, which includes items like Australian Mulwarra wagyu and duroc pork belly.
Sofitel Philippine Plaza
Joyuex Noël Au Sofitel
Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila welcomed the festive season the French way with Art de Noël 2019. Showcasing the allure of French style through modern gastronomy and art, Sofitel reached deeper into its roots and featured haute couture pieces by Debbie Co and Anthony Ramirez for a yuletide celebration that was extraordinaire and chic. French elegance and world-renowned Filipino creativity came to life through a giant, 30-feet Christmas tree surrounded by a fashionably-decked lobby and unparalleled dining outlets that took gourmands to a glamorous journey of taste.
Seda Vertis North
With a Smile
To welcome the holiday season, Seda Vertis North held its annual Christmas Tree Lighting at the ground floor lobby of the hotel. All decorations were lit up during the event, from the 15-foot Christmas tree, the interactive gingerbread house, and all the Christmas lights surrounding and within the building. Gian Sotto, vice mayor of Quezon City, graced the occasion. Singing during the ceremony was the employee choir, marking their first performance for the holidays. They will be singing at the lobby from Monday to Friday. Now going on its third year, the hotel partnered with international cleft charity Smile Train to help raise funds to support the operation of children born with cleft lip or cleft palate or both. Share the love and bring brighter smiles to children by purchasing Smile Train ornaments
available in the lobby.
Century City Mall
Holiday Cheers Break Loose
Century City Mall kicked off a slew of holiday activities at the mall’s Skyloft by lighting not one, but three traditional Christmas trees with classic color palette of red, green, and gold and a starry ceiling installation that perfectly capture the merriment of the holidays. Expression Music Philippines serenaded the guests with beloved Christmas songs to set the festive mood. The highlights of the night were probably the heartfelt flash mob performance by the kids of Children’s Joy Foundation and Greenpeace Philippines’ speech on how to be more eco-conscious these holidays. To cap off the celebration in the most relaxing way, guests were treated to a special premiere screening of Charlie’s Angels at the mall’s cozy cinema.
