Need a little inspiration for the Yuletide spirit? The Peninsula Manila just has the event for you. With the help of SSI Group Inc., Philippine Tatler, and HSBC, the hotel will usher in the holiday season with music from well-loved films in their annual Christmas Concert at the Pen, headlined by the talents of “Asia’s Golden Girl” Gerphil Flores, Miguel Lobato, the UST Singers, and violinist Coke Bolipata performing the violin solo from Cinema Paradiso, as well as the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) under the baton of guest conductor Maestro Ruggero Barbieri.
The concert will take place on Sunday, Dec. 8, starting with a performance by the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra. The event, directed by Freddie Santos, will also double as a fundraiser for the Hope foe the Philippines advocacy of the hotel that continues to benefit the educational and livelihood projects of families living in The Peninsula-Gawad Kalinga (GK) Village in Tanauan, Leyte.
“Part of our holiday musical repertoire this year includes music from The Godfather, Evita, Ben Hur, the James Bond series, Wizard of Oz, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and many others played live by the PPO,” says Masahisa Oba, general manager of The Peninsula Manila “I am sure this will add a new energy to the concert and will engage our guests and patrons in a different way, allowing them to realize how key music is to a film. Of course, we haven’t forgotten to include Christmas carols to this year’s concert. This is our Pamaskong handog (Christmas gift), after all.”
There is a P2,300 consumable fee per person (with a set festive merienda) or P32,000 for a table of 10 (with a set festive merienda menu and two bottles of Moët & Chandon Champagne). Reservations will be accepted for tables of 10 (ten).
