The Philippine National Police (PNP) is one of the first to respond in times of disasters, calamities, and national threats. Members of the police force have been deployed in the area as soon as Taal volcano started spewing ashes and lava. They have left their loved ones and the comforts of their homes to secure the safety of the people who need their help.

As if this is not noble and heroic enough, PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa shared that they are encouraging members to give monetary donations to help the victims of this natural disaster. “I am asking the members of Philippine National Police for a P10 voluntary contribution, so we can generate funds to help, especially those Filipinos who are displaced by this disaster,” Archie says in a press briefing in Camp Crame earlier today, Monday. Jan. 13. “Once we gathered the contribution, we will ask CALABARZON [PNP] what they need, and that’s what we will bring to them.”

He also said that this is not the first time PNP will do this initiative. According to him, they also asked for voluntary contributions for the victims of last year’s Mindanao earthquake where they generated about P3 million from the contribution.

Thank you so much for going beyond your duty, members of PNP!
