Paying tribute to a classic, Ternocon 2020 is a demonstration of Filipino identity and pride showcasing reimagined version of the terno. Seasoned designers Lesley Mobo, Philip Rodriguez, Ivarluski Aseron, and Marlon Tuazon, together with the 12 designers of this year’s Ternocon added a contemporary chapter to the long history of Philippine fashion in the halls of the Nicanor Abelardo Theater at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).
Initiated by the CCP, through its Cultural Exchange Department, and Bench (Suyen Corporation), Ternocon aims to encourage the use of the terno as formal dress, to inspire a new generation of Filipino designers to make ternos that are grounded in the history of the Philippine national dress, and to motivate regional designers to create works that are at par with the construction techniques of master designers. Leading Ternocon 2020 are Gino Gonzales as its project director and Inno Sotto as chief mentor to the designers.
Capping the night was the announcement of winners: Dinnes Obusan from Camarines Sur (Bronze), Jaggy Glarino from General Santos City (Silver), and Hannah Adrias from Pasay City (Gold).
