A spokesperson of Clarence House announced that Prince Charles has tested positive for Covid-19. The 71-year-old heir apparent to the British throne had been “displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remained in good health.” His wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, was also tested but does not have the virus.

“In accordance with Government and medical advice, the Prince and Duchess are now self-isolating at home in Scotland,” added Clarence House. “It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements carried out in his public role during recent weeks.”

Meanwhile, the Buckingham Palace made it clear that the 93-year-old Queen Elizabeth II is in good health.

It is not clear where and when the Prince of Wales contracted the disease, but he was tested earlier this week, Monday.

Prince Charles’ last public engagement was on 12 March, Thursday, when he attended a Mansion House dinner with the Lord Mayor of the City of London William Russell, and the High Commissioner for Australia George Brandis. That same day the royal visited the Queen as part of a private engagement.
